初めてはらだ先生の漫画を読んだ。先生が人気がある理由がよくわかった…絵が美しいだけじゃなく、ストーリーもとても美しい。映画のような雰囲気が本当に素晴らしいと思った。 --- [Review] This is a bitter sweet story about a guy and an angel. [Plot] Protagonist Koki works for convenient store as part timer, he had been a underling of Yakuza before. He lives in tiny old apartment like living dead with low salary everyday. One day, gangs who know his past picked a fight with him at back alley. After Koki easily knocked out one guy, he got closer to the other guy but unexpectedly, he was stabbed with knife. At the moment, intense bursting sound occurred and an angel looks like middle school boy was fallen from the sky.

It's impossible to forget the day I found this intense cover on a website called "Tonarino Young Jump", which is owned by a publisher of Weekly Shonen & Young Jump (Shueisha). It looks like a Boys' Love manga, but was serialized under the famous seinen label. Even though the story is ridiculous, it's strangely appealing so I sometimes get the urge to read this manga. I've already read it again and again. Why does this manga absorb me so much? I guess the reason is that their relationship is awfully temporary and fragile. The relationship between Takayama and Iijima is less than friends or even classmates - it only involves Iijima taking photos of blonde-haired Takayama in fancy ladies' underwear. What's curious is the fact that Iijima never cares for Takayama despite this weird habit. No matter how many times Iijima takes creepy and perverted pictures of him, Takayama is neither a source of benefit nor a waste of time for him. The two boys become very close over the year, but their relationship may easily disappear on graduation day. I was shaken up, yet found it impossible not to fall in love with the protagonists' strange yet irresistible paper-thin connection.

とても特徴的な絵がすてき！表情やゼスチャーがとても大げさで、あんまり日本の漫画絵ぽくないなと思いました。少しカートゥーンに似ていると思いました。 楓が一生懸命ですごく可愛かったです。ルパン三世のオマージュが大好きです！ --- I really love Shohei's unique art style. They depict the characters' behavior in a slightly exaggerated way, so that it seems more like a cartoon than a typical Japanese manga. Speaking of characters, Kaede is so adorable...!
