笑いと切なさと/Paper-Thin Bond of Boys
大笑いした!飯島が高山に全然関心がなくて面白い。二人の奇妙な関係性が終わる場面、卒業式の話がとても切なかだ。 —- A blonde high school boy is staring at me with a nasty look --- while wearing panties on his head and a bra around his neck. It's impossible to forget the day I found this intense cover on a website called "Tonarino Young Jump", which is owned by a publisher of Weekly Shonen & Young Jump (Shueisha). It looks like a Boys' Love manga, but was serialized under the famous seinen label. Even though the story is ridiculous, it's strangely appealing so I sometimes get the urge to read this manga. I've already read it again and again. Why does this manga absorb me so much? I guess the reason is that their relationship is awfully temporary and fragile. The relationship between Takayama and Iijima is less than friends or even classmates - it only involves Iijima taking photos of blonde-haired Takayama in fancy ladies' underwear. What's curious is the fact that Iijima never cares for Takayama despite this weird habit. No matter how many times Iijima takes creepy and perverted pictures of him, Takayama is neither a source of benefit nor a waste of time for him. The two boys become very close over the year, but their relationship may easily disappear on graduation day. I was shaken up, yet found it impossible not to fall in love with the protagonists' strange yet irresistible paper-thin connection.
